Part V: Battlefield Earth
<Zechs pilots a shuttle out of earth's atmosphere>
Zechs: the Sanq kingdom has fallen. Relina is a prisoner of the Romefeller foundation. They have acquired way too much power. They rule with an iron fist. I have to do something about it. <grits his teeth> the Gundam pilots lost. now it's up to me. <evil smile> why not stay on earth a while Heero. I've got a surprise for you.

<Noin is led by 4 guards to Dermail's office. They show her in and step outside of the door. Dermail is at his desk eyeing her angrily>
Dermail: Miss Noin.
Noin :where is Relina?
Dermail :I wouldn't worry about her right now. You're in it deep miss Noin.
Noin: I've done nothing wrong.
Dermail: on the contrary miss Noin. You have attacked Oz soldiers in battle.
Noin: I was defending the Sanq kingdom from invasion. That's my job.
Dermail: your job. Hmmm. So how is it you came to posses mobile suits in a pacifist nation?
Noin: it was my doing. It had nothing to do with Relina.
Dermail: <stares at her silent for a minute> I see. And where did you acquire this false information on the Gundams virus.
Noin: it was your virus.
Dermail: how easily fooled you are Miss Noin. I would have expected more from an Oz officer.
Noin: I'm not with Oz anymore.
Dermail: obviously not traitor. So.... save yourself the trouble and tell me who this colony sympathizer rebel is.
Noin :I don't know.
Dermail: then where did you get this information? <she doesn't answer, she looks away> all right then Miss Noin. Have it your way. I will get it out of you. <hits a button on the intercom. The soldiers come in> take Miss Noin to the spaceport. A shuttle will be waiting for her at bay 07. <looks at Noin> you don't have to answer me Miss Noin, but I wouldn't cross Dr. Christof if I were you.
Noin ;<eyes wide> Christof?
Dermail :<evil smile> say your good byes to the earth Noin. It will probably be the last time you see it.

<chelle has pulled the jeep off the road. Everyone has got out. She stands in front of the hood programming the gps units. They are scattered on the hood in front of her. The guys wander around near the jeep. Wufei/Heero/Duo stand together near the back. Trowa and Quatre near her>
Duo :<shaking his head> this is whacked man.
Heero: Chan must have added the additional explosives after he sent chelle lee away to school.
Duo :but why? Why destroy her?
Heero :I don't know. I can't understand the way he thinks.
Wufei: he must have thought that if it came down to pushing the button, if it came down to her getting caught, he'd rather see her dead.
Duo: I don't get it.
Wufei :there is dishonor in surrender or capture.
Duo: <confused> you saying he tried to kill her to defend her honor? After all that shit he did to her? That's nuts!
Heero :he was nuts.
Wufei: you mean is.
Heero: <to Duo> he sent a message then?
Duo: yeah. I'm coming home.
Heero: <nods> so he is on his way.
Duo: but why? Why come back now?
Wufei: it sounded like he left to keep the hit squads away from her. Maybe he's found a way to get them off of his back.
Duo: you think he sold her out?
Wufei: <frowns> no, not her. If it were her he was coming after he could have had her at any time. He's been monitoring her system for months.
Heero: it's us then. Chan's after us.
Wufei: he knows we're working with her.
Duo: yeah, then why isn't Oz beating down the door?
Wufei: <sighs> my guess is he's turned bounty hunter.
Heero :hunted to hunter. Clever.
Duo :<worried> but what about chelle?
Heero: as long as she doesn't get in his way I think he'll leave her alone.
Wufei: I wouldn't count on that Heero.

<Chan comes down the road chelle took. He sees the broken glass scattered everywhere and the tire marks. He stops the bike for a minute to look>
Chan: so, you survived. Well, you cant be that much further ahead. <narrows his eyes> and I'll bet you have the Gundam pilots with you. <he continues down the road>

<they cluster near the hood of the jeep, chelle hands out the gps units>
chelle: the coordinates are programmed in. get to your Gundams but wait until after dark to take off. There's still too many Oz troops in the area. We don't need you getting spotted. We got enough to worry about right now.
Trowa: right.
Chelle: I'll meet you there. I should get there just before you guys do.
Quatre :this is another rebel compound? Is it safe?
Chelle: yeah. It's quite a set up. We'll be fine there.
Quatre: <depressed> what about Miss Noin and Relina?
Chelle: <shakes her head> I'm working that out. I need to find out if Noin has escaped first. Relina... well we're just going to have to go in after her. We have a little time though if he plans to put her on trial.
Quatre: I wish I knew what happened to Noin.
Trowa: we all do Quatre.

<Noin is put into the back of a car still cuffed. Relina is looking out the window and sees this. Her eyes get large>
Relina
h my god! Miss Noin! No! <she
pounds a fist on the glass> Noin! Noin! <as if hearing her Noin looks up
and sees Relina. She smiles at her. Relina puts her palms on the windows> oh
no, Noin no...... <fresh tears stream down her cheeks> -------------
<Chan comes up over a rise just up from where they have parked. He sees the sunlight glint off of the jeep and quickly kills the engine of the bike as not to be heard. He brings it to a stop on the roadside. He reaches into a saddle bag and pulls out a pair of binoculars. He looks through them at the group>
Chan : excellent. She has all five of them with her. This will be too easy.

<Quatre looks off into the woods to their left>
Quatre: Sandrock is this way.
Trowa :so is Heavyarms. We'll walk together as far as we can.
Quatre: okay. <to the others> take care you guys.
Duo :no sweat Quatre.
Trowa: we'll be seeing you there.
Chelle: just be careful.
Quatre: we will. You too. <she nods. Trowa and Quatre say their farewells and head off into the woods>
Wufei<looks the other way> well, I've got to go this way.
Heero: me too.
Duo: same here.
Chelle: good then you can stay close, at least for a little while.
Duo:<shuffles his feet> yeah. For a while.
Heero: <sees he's reluctant to go> maybe we shouldn't go all at once.
Wufei: <catching on> I'll go first. We'll stay a few minutes apart.
Heero: sounds good.
Chelle: take care Wufei.
Wufei: <smug grin> of course. <he heads into the woods>
Heero: this way we'll all be within earshot for a while.
Chelle: probably wouldn't hurt considering we don't know where Chan is.
Duo: <sighs> I don't like this. I don't like not knowing where that freak is.
Heero: <trying to sound reassuring> He can't be too close.
Chelle:<nods> yeah... but just in case <opens the door of the jeep and reaches in. pulls out two guns> who wants one?
Heero: <looks at Duo> you take it one. Chell, you keep one on you.
Chelle: but I'm in the jeep. You guys are hiking it.
Duo: just hang on to one. <he takes the other and stuffs it in his waist band>
Chelle: all right. <puts it back on the drivers seat>
Heero: who are we meeting at this base?
Chelle: my friend Jonathan is in charge there. He's a good guy. He'll be able to accommodate us and the Gundams. <sighs> I hope he has the Morgan.
Heero: <he and Duo exchange a look> we'll see when we get there. <pauses> okay, I'm heading out. You guys take care. See you at the base.
Chelle: I'll be watching for you.
Heero: right. <he heads into the woods. Duo and chelle stand there a minute. He takes her hand>
Duo: you okay?
Chelle: I'm fine.
Duo: I'm sorry about the house.
Chelle<sighs> don't be. I'm not.
Duo: <stares at her a minute> look.... about Chan....
Chelle: No Duo, don't.
Duo: <steps close to her> I'm not gonna let him near you. Neither will the others. He shows his face... he's a dead men.
Chelle: <sarcastic laugh> I thought he was.
Duo: <little smile> guess we can't get that lucky. <she smiles back at him. he looks at her a minute then pulls her to him. he hugs and kisses her> you be careful. I'll see you back at the base.
Chelle: <nods> stay on your toes Duo. If Chan is around, we need to be extra cautious.
Duo: <grins> hey, its me.
Chelle: <raises an eyebrow> that's what I'm worried about.

<Chan watches Trowa and Quatre go one way, Wufei and Heero the other. He sits watching chelle and Duo.>
Chan: hmmmm. What's this? <sees them kiss. Snarls> so... she has a little boyfriend. Humph. Not for long. Duo Maxwell, it looks like you'll be first....
<he waits until he sees Duo head into the woods. He watches her drive off in the jeep. He puts the binoculars away and lets the bike roll down the hill to where the jeep had been parked a few minutes ago. He parks it near the trees and gets off. A minute later he enters the woods behind Duo>

<Christof goes to an Oz shuttle and gets aboard. He goes to the lounge and sits. A minute later a soldier comes in>
soldier: Dr. Christof?
Christof: yes?
Soldier: we'll be leaving in a few minutes sir. The flight to Baruji won't take long.
Christof: what about Lucretzia Noin. Is she there yet?
Soldier: she's on her way there now.
Christof: <nods> good. I can't wait to meet with her.
Soldier: <frowns> I don't understand her. She was one of the best Oz ever had.
Christof :that's what makes her so dangerous. Remember, she's a traitor.
Soldier: yes sir.
Christof: <leans back and gets comfortable> inform me when we are making final approach to Baruji.
Soldier: yes sir. <he leaves>
Christof: <sighs/thinks> well miss Noin, I'm afraid you're in for a rude awakening. I don't think you'll find me as patient or tolerant as Duke Dermail. I will get what I want to know out of you.... one way or another...you'll talk.

<Duo has been walking for almost a half an hour. He stops for a brief rest and to shake the stones out of his shoes. He sits under a tree and takes care if it.>
Duo: <sighs> Deathsythe aint too far now. <smiles> I'll even have time for a catnap. <he stands and stretches. That's when he hears a whisper out of nowhere...'Duo'. > huh? <he looks around but sees no one> Heero? That you? <listens> Wufei? <no reply. His eyes scan the area. Nervous> Heero? Come on man, this aint funny. <he hears the sound of sinister laughter. A moment later a man steps out from behind a tree not far from where Duo is standing>
Chan: hello Duo Maxwell.
Duo: <narrows his eyes at Chan> who the hell are you? How do you know me?
Chan: <grins> what, you mean you don't know? How disappointing. I was sure my reputation would precede me.
Duo: <angry> who are you? Why are you following me?
Chan: My name is Michie Chan. I've come for you Maxwell.
Duo: <eyes wide> Chan? <grits his teeth> you bastard!
Chan: <shrugs> I've been called worse. I know you won't surrender yourself to me, so I'm just going to have to make you. <starts walking over to Duo> this should be the highlight of my day.
Duo: <pulls out the gun and holds it on Chan. Chan is only a few feet away> not so fast pal. If anything, I'm gonna enjoy killing your sorry ass.
Chan: <evil smile> what dreams you have. <in a flash he kicks the gun out of Duo's hand. It was ready to be fired and goes off. The shot rings through the woods. Chan jabs Duo in the nose breaking it and sending him staggering backward bleeding. Chan laughs> I thought you knew Maxwell. You can't take me.
Duo: <hand over nose/growls> well I can try. <he lunges at Chan, but Chan sidesteps out of the way. He hits Duo in the small if the back propelling him forward. Duo spins around quickly and runs at Chan. Again Chan dodges and hits Duo in the stomach. Duo doubles over and Chan hits him in the back of the head. Duo hits the ground face down. Chan steps back and watches him amused>
Chan: <pleased with himself> well, get up. Come on. certainly you aren't going do deny me my fun for the day.
Duo :<gets to his hands and knees. Glares at Chan> turned bounty hunter have ya? well, I'll never let you take me alive.
Chan: <grinning> that's too bad Maxwell. Chelle lee will be so upset she wasn't here to save your ass.
Duo: <stands enraged> you leave her out of this you hear me! You go near her and I'll kill you!
Chan: big talk... for a dead man.
Duo: I aint dead yet. <takes a fighting stance> come on asshole. Come and get me!

that is such a cool story.
thank god you're making fan-fics
again, like i said.. i enjoy your GW
fan-fics the most.. it's really spiffy
and the plot is easier to follow.
OMG though, what's gonna happen to me?
poor duo btw, if i was chelle i'd kick his ass..
