Signature Rules UPDATE!!

Post subject: Signature Rules
UPDATE!!
Since there have been a lot of people breaking the sig size rule, either
accidently or deleberatly, we've decided to do two things. One, the size rule
will be changed. Two, this will be enforced for EVERY MEMBER. Even if you have a
sig that was previously OKed by us.
NEW
SIG SIZE: 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall. This includes ALL your images AND
your text. If you're not sure, ask.
Also, don't forget
that pictures in your sig need to be under 50K! This is for all the people with
slow connections. And crappy AOL.
You have one week to fix your
sig, or it will be fixed for you. And you really don't want that since I'm now
an admin and can make REALLY DORKY images for your sig! *EG*
If you have
any questions, ask them in here. Off topic posts will be deleted, no matter how
interesting they are.

If anyone has multiple sigs that they feel express themselves personally, i
recommend that you switch between your various sigs from time to time to keep
with the new sig rules.

I cant compress sigs in photoshop.. they always turn out crappy.. and i like
alot of fx  y not 50k max?

and DX, you still have a lot to learn.... .....
a lot of fx don't always mean huge file size.....decrease your
colors....one step at a time....you can usually manage to shrink the file size
that way pretty decently.....

or do the
illeterate way, keep resaving it making it smaller in size and reduck=hing
quality till it starts loosing visual quality then keep that 1

Another
helpful thing is to Save for Web (which I use for avatars) which gets rid of all
the colors not used in the picture, making much more compact images.

Also remember to click the 'optimize' button - reduces size by a few k

you know, 50kb max
would be better.. seeing as how most ppl all have sigs around that size anyway.
after we see everyones take on these rules, we'll update them accordingly.

lol, i switched to my gambit banner to draw attention to
the new spring special link in my sig. 
and i didn't
see anything limiting your sig to one image, just as long as the image file
sizes are small enough to compensate for two images. but as for your sig size..
as long as it is close enough, i wouldn't worry about it. as long as ppl don't
abuse it again there won't be any problems.

that
but to be honest ive never had a problem loading anyones
banner cept from crappy image hosts that takes there time doing off site hosting
(mainly my own)
but now i use
aol and it is instant

Listen d00d, you're a typical n00b consumer, you wouldn't
understand the stereotyping of the big corporations, so don't go protesting
against them agianst the uber geeks, coz we know the history and the facts and
all that stuff!
(It's either that or AOL really is crap and they are
falling apart)

we're reducing the size limits because people with 800x600 resolutions are
getting their screens streached out of whack....
and the 30k was a rough
estimate....i mostly said that because at the time we came up with those rules,
everyone and their dog had huge-ass animations in their sig.....and that was
really annoying....even with a cable modem it took a while for those sigs to
load.....i shudder to think how long it took with dialup.....if ya'll want to up
it to 50k, that's fine, but i wanna hear what ya'll have to say about it...
and your sig doesn't have to be just one image.....if you read the
signature rules topic in the FAQs forum, it'll say that.....you can more than
one image as long as combined total doesn't exceed the 500x200 pixel
maximum.....if you're unsure, ask.....actually, the best way to find out if text
and image are ok is to take a screenshot of it, crop it to just the sig, and see
how big that is....*shrugs*....if you need me to do that to check your sig, i
can do that....it doesn't take long.....
