Haiku is the most worthless form of poetry. It's just so damn easy...it doesn't have to make sense, and it's got a set form that's easy to follow. Buuut...that's where they're at in Creative Writing, so here ya go~three little haikus I wrote during class. Behold the worthlessness.

Sirens screech; rubber enflames
Gotta get away

Pause smilling sweetly
Black daggers hide behind love
Soon to drip red, yes?

Memories open
Crass laughter bursts, unceasing
Made strangers again

Putting restraints on writing is
like shackling a workhorse. We're in agreement that it's worthless. =\

Is it disrespectable for me then to have written haikus?
The dumbest thing about the restraints is
that people write them, call them by the name of whatever form of poetry it is,
and yet don't meet the criteria. Many haikus in our book have only 4 syllables
in a line or two.

No...I guess they just feel they're special enough not to follow the rules...which may be alright poetically...but then, why call it a haiku, anyway?

Most of the old-school famous haikus (obviously) were written in Japanese and such. In English books, the syllables don't come out right. A good example is the one of a frog jumping into a pond ; water splash sound; or something like that
