~I wrote this with restrictions I set on myself. It's not one of my favorites
that I've done, but it is the most recent.~

I meant
to ask a question just now
Instead, I let my feelings slip
(Oops.)
Maybe if you didn't annoy me so much
I'd keep my mouth shut more
(Ouch.)
I don't need you--that was a joke
Instead, I need a
little break
(Really.)
Maybe you should stop crying now, little boy
I'd like a dry shirt later
(But.)
I wasn't trying to hurt you,
ya know
Instead of how it seems now
(Um.)
Maybe I should just
get it over with
I'd be better off that way
(Sure.)
I thank you
for being my boyfriend's understudy
Instead of running away in terror
(Whatever.)
Maybe everything will go smoothly now, after this
I'd hate to dirty my hands
(Help?)
I suppose we should part ways
about now
Instead of us becoming all chummy
(Alleluia.)
Maybe
we'll meet again after I've done it
I'd hate to leave you hanging
(Weirdo.)
~So, the restrictions were...8 words to each
first line, 6 words to each second, and 1 word to the third. The odd stanzas
first line begin with I and the second line with Instead...the even stanzas
first line begin with Maybe and second with I'd. Tell me what you think.~
