I have at some point seriously played piano and bass guitar, and dabbled a little in guitar. Now I dabble in all three, and play bass whenever someone particularly wants me to.

Skin flute

Yeah, I know a few people who play that...

Anyway, I can play guitar (basically rhythm, some leads here n there).

Azrael

Naah, no band. Some of my friends play other instruments, but I never could get them all together...and now I don't really care anymore.

My name was meant to be Samuri, not Samurai. If I could show you the explaination of my name and why it is "Samuri", I would.

And yes, I do play many instruments.

A lot of those instruments I've never heard of. Virginal? Celesta? Spinet? Marimba? Thundertube? That one sounds like some sort of weapon a superhero would use.

lmao!

A Virginal is a light keyboard instrument. A Celesta produces a faint, "crystal-like" sound. A Marimba is made of wood and makes a wodden sound. A thunder-Tube make thundering noises and roars.

Piano and guitar. And technically, I have enough training on piano that I could figure out a sheet of harpsichord, celesta, or any sort of marimba, etc. without too much difficulty. That's the beauty of related instruments.

They could be if you use them a certain way.

So, I guess I have a dirty mind and thought that virginal was vaginal, and piano+glochenspiel=penis... and yah... ANYWAY... I "play" piano and flute.

Now, I was in band back in the day... and as I recall, if you played a brass instrument, it was highly advised NOT to play anything with a reed because it could screw up your... oh.. I can say the word but can't spell it... embouchure (Well, I do declare, that is the Frenchiest French word ever.) However, there's an excellent chance I'm mistaken as you seem to play both families.

Sorry for the blunder Samuri, I guess this prompted you to even start another topic X'D ... anyway, I guess I was too sleepy and forced my fingers to type something out, which obviously was incorrect, blaaaaaaah. -pokes Samuri and hears him/her giggle for the next 3 minutes-

lol. Vaginal? Penis? "Play"?!
Oh, you're right about the brass thing. Even if I play both families, my embochure does not screw up. Though, for MANY, MANY, people, it does.

I can play practically any instrument I can touch.

I say "play" because I know how to play it... like the keys/notes/whatever, but I'm not good. Like my friend is incredible at piano, he like makes you melt just listening to him play because he's just amazing. Oh oh oh. In Big O (ha ha ha), Dorothy is playing piano and Roger tells her she's not good or whatever. And she says that she's playing all the notes in the right order/time/everything, but he explains to her that there's more to music than just all that. So yes, that's what I mean by "play." I can play it, but it's not very moving... until I start singing in octaves that no alto should consider... then it'll move ya... right out of the room!

I learned a little bit of piano, flute, and guitar, but was never really very good. I always always wanted to play the drums though, it really bugs me that I have two friends and a big brother who know how to play the damn things, yet they won't teach me. I always enjoyed singing more anyway, maybe that's why I never really commited myself to learning these instuments very well, I just learned enough to get by.

I can play any kind of saxophone without too much trouble. I've actually played the alto for a couple years, and then the tenor for a couple more years. I played the recorder for 2, and the piano for 1. It's not too bad a collection, considering I'm not musically inclined.

X'D I bet you're my music teacher SS. That man can play any instrument ever invented. Also, do you practice all of those seriously? Or only a few?

I practice them all seriously. When someone else plays something wrong, I feel I must correct them. I also learn songs by listening to them.

X'D you probably are my music teacher. We had to do a project where we listen to a song, and then play it on our instruments.

I can play the piano, but I'm still learning. November will be two years of lessons. Otherwise, I really can't play any other instruments.

i tried the timpani once, i was so confused x_x

CGRH-OneShotKill
June 23rd, 2005, 06:59 PM
lol,yes timpani can be confusing at first, ya just have to get used to hearing the pitch and making sure you move the pedal right and the wooshiness of it

Robert White, i think it is, wrote a song where they have 5 ppl banging on timpani heads around the room, and it gives off a real live helicopter sound. IT IS SOOO COOL!

Vincent
June 23rd, 2005, 07:32 PM
i went to the symphony once and saw a timpani concerto. it took 2 people playing a total of 20 something timpanis. it sounded a lot like mission impossible and got repetitive after 10 minutes though.....

CGRH-OneShotKill
June 23rd, 2005, 07:54 PM
not to be rude, but the word timpani is plural, the singular form of the word is timpano

but i guess it would get repetitive after a short amount of time, there's only so much interest you can absorb from a timpani concerto
