Does anyone have suggestions about a band with VERY good guitar solos? I've been listening to a lot of bands lately and none of them seem to be based mainly on hardcore guitar solos, so I was wondering if you guys could help. In case you haven't guessed, I only listen to hardcore rock, screamo, etc., so try to stay in those boundaries. Thanks, Phoenix

All That Remains has some good ones. In Flames also has some good ones. Hmmm, thats all I can think of off the top of my head. And Zao, can't forget Zao

Guitar solos...not really my thing. A Static Lullaby has some catchy guitar work though, and if memory serves, a few good solos here and there.

Screamo ? What genre is that ? Do you listen to any metal (deathmetal / powermetal / thrash) ? I could recommend a few once we're clear on these things ...

If you are looking to listen to talented guitar players lay down some tight solos:
Black Sabbath/Ozzy
Guns n Roses
Pink Floyd
Van Halen
Aerosmith
Led Zep

Pink Floyd, you should probably listen to The Wall, Division Bell and Darkside Of The Moon. You could also check out their guitarist's, David Gilmour's new album out (I've started another topic about the same), and hear samples from the album in that thread.

Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are realy good guitarist you would want to check out.

If you listen to metal;

Morbid Angel's Trey Azagthoth is pretty good on all of the bands' albums. Then you've got Penna and Ronaldo who are incredible on Rebaelliun's Burn The Promised Land debut cd. Children Of Bodom are a band whose music is carried on through fast leads and melodies.

K thanx guys, buy the way screamo is basically hardcore rock like Atreyu, Evergreen Terrace, etc. Or in some examples, it's close to thrash. Just hard, loud stuff with screaming vocals and normally repetitive guitar solos. Some guitarists' works that I already like are the intro in Unholy Confessions by A7X (Avenged Sevenfold) and The Crimson by Atreyu. Anything in that kind of genre with good guitars. It doesn't even have to have vocals, just a VERY good guitar. Thanks a lot guys.

Personally I'd say that Tom Morello of Rage against the machine/audioslave and Kirk Hammett of Metallica are the 2 best guitarists I've ever heard. The ones for Slipknot and Sevendust aren't bad either, if that helps.

:sigh: Well, I've got a couple more bands to add

1. And The Hero Fails
2. Premonitions of War
3. August Burns Red (One of my Favorite bands at the Moment)
4. Norma Jean (Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child and O' God the Aftermath. Same band diffrent Vocalists on the albums.)
5. Unearth
6. As I Lay Dying
7. Arch Enemy
8. God Forbid
9. Bury Your Dead
10. Fall of Eden
11. Extol
12. The Chariot

It's more than a couple...but who cares

I like Arch Enemy's older releases. Hmmm if you're looking into the metal scene, here's a few more Inu, Saosin;

Bathory has some great viking music with sweet leads; check out the band Death - they're technical, full of powerhouse leads; Metallica have some of their best leads on their 1st 3 albums notably Ride The Lightening; Slayer's Reign In Blood cd ...
