Why are so many people obsessed with VII? I really don't see why they like it so much. How many of us here love FFVII? IMO, IX was better.

Heh, I just started playing VII for the first time two weeks ago. Borrowed if from a friend of mine at the college. Even though I'm only an hour into the game I don't see what is so great about it nor did I ever from reading about it. I might change my mind as I get further into the game but frankly VI and IX are probably the best to FF games I've ever played (and I've played all but III, VIII, and XI)

Claiming IX is remotely good is grounds for dismissal of your opinion.
Claiming IX is better than any of the Final Fantasies that came before it is grounds for a boot in the face.

Sure it was the first 3D FF, but the story was, meh.The final battle wasn't even really that cool. I mean look at VIII that was pretty sweet ending battle. VI was awsome too. :9

IMO, they really didn't need to make so many games about VII, just a movie and DoC would have been just fine. But now they even have like a thirty minute anime movie about Zack. Come on, they are going over the limit with this, IMO again.

You have to admit IX had a nice ending though. That was my fav bit of that game. VII Has a great story line. If you think about the story line to much It gives you a headache though.

Well, FFVII was the one responsible to spawn the RPG era on the PS. It has alot of good character development as everyone even Yuffie and Vincent had their own set of story, the game also had alot of sidequests and secrets on many other things like how to get people's maximum weapons, or how to get Aerith alive(Only on Jap. Version, first release), even some fun scenes like Corneo choosing cloud, or Dating Tifa instead of Aertih.... on disc 2. and FFVII had the toughest bosses had a boring time w/ FFIX once I got Concentrate+Boost+Magic Boost Items for Sarah/Garnet and Full Thievery for Zidane... Ozma was too easy, Omega was too easy, Ruby and Emerald are the only bosses that made me sweat....

Frankly I still don't see all the hype up over this game. Then again as I said I just started playing it (hmmm I really should get to beating it soon, then again theres about 10 other RPGs I still need to beat and this one isn't a priority at the moment). I still think VI and IX are better.

Remember Eppy we all have our opinions and what you must note is that IX is what really cemented my fondness and love for the Final Fantasy series. I had never played an FF game before that so when I got my hands on it I instantly fell in love with the game.

Had it not been for IX I would have never gotten into the FF series of games nor would I own everyone except for III, V, VI, VII, VIII, XI, and Tactics (more or less since I can't find the games to buy them so I stoop to borrowing them from friends or getting ROMs). So I owe my gateway and fondness for the FF series to IX.

Also I love the story in IX. To me it's got more substance then VII (but will never live up to VI or IV for that matter)

your not crazy you just need to give it a chance and beat the game, you cant play the game through the first parts and enjoy it..now if you already have beaten and still dont like it then...well final fantasy just isent for you

I've beaten it like 3 times, but I don't see how Final Fantasy wouldn't be for me if I liked II, VI, VIII, and IX. o_O

I just don't think it's the best, it would probably be in my top twenties or thirties, but not in my top tens.
