I never seen it but i hear it got hurried and had a sucky ending. Also the Twin sattelite cannons are ridulously powerful from what i found.......

Clowtrigger

Clowtrigger
July 18th, 2005, 01:49 AM
they look like a harmonica: the instrument, it fires kinda like a harmonica, many beams are released. then it also acts as a propulsion system for GX

Kuwabara
July 18th, 2005, 02:02 AM
Ahh okay. Sounds kinda cool what about the other gundams such as the gundam Leopord and such.

The Leopard is basically Heavyarms on Steroids, the Airmaster is a Zeta Variant w/o atmospheric re-entry capabilities

Took the words right out of my mouth there aqu.

Oh the greatness that is Gundam X. Such a great series. Sadly it was rushed (which they still haven't given us a definite answer as to why) but still turned out great (hey I personally liked the ending).

What is this series about? Is it like earth versus space, or earth versus earth or something? I saw a pick of the Leopard, I think it looks too bulky. Gundam Virsago looks like the Epyon. Most of them resemble a Gundam from Wing. I think I'll buy this if I can find it anywhere aound here, all we have is G Gundam and Wing. -_-

Gundam X is not licensed EVA. Only way to get it is from fansub groups so you'll need to dl it. Only group that I know of that has it all subbed is Hero Legends (where I got mine from).

GX is your basic Gundam series. Takes place years after a major war between the Space Colonies and the Earth. World was left pretty much devestated. Most people work as Vultures, basically scavenge the earth for wrecked Mobile Suits to turn in for cash. Has a major influence on newtypes and what they truly are. Very good series if you like character development and good old fashion mech battles.

So Garrod was a Vulture who stumbled unto it?

Clowtrigger
July 18th, 2005, 04:43 PM
Who was the Char Persona Here, Jamil's space army counterpart

Eppy
July 18th, 2005, 04:51 PM
no more like vultures stumbled upon Garrod...Garrod is just good at stealing and getting out of tight spots =D

Clowtrigger
July 18th, 2005, 05:07 PM
Garrod is 100% pure progressive pilot: no SEED, no Zero System, no Newtype powers. He's basically a guy who gets to have a Newtype as his love-interest. A cool Gundam and a Ship complete with crew

Strider Hiryu
July 18th, 2005, 05:54 PM
There is no Char counterpart here or that I could pick out from watching it. Not all of the Gundam series have one its just that most do because they play off their roots.

As Eppy said the Vultures stumbled upon him. Garrod is an excellent thief and is very good at getting out of tight spots. Tiffa, newtype love interest, is more or less the reason the Vultures stumbled upon him in the first place (whole plot scenerio involved with this, better if you watch it to get the details). Yes, Garrod is one of the few Gundam pilots that has no special abilities whatsoever. With a mix of luck and skill he becomes one of the best pilots in the series.

no the one who looks like treize,

July 18th, 2005, 06:16 PM
As I said there is no duplication of Char's personality/persona here. I cannot find it and I should be able to since Char is by far my favorite pilot in any series. As I said not all Gundam series have a Char clone. If anything I think Jamil's counterpart is a personality in his own, he's too understanding of Jamil's motives.

Clowtrigger
July 18th, 2005, 06:17 PM
just want to know his name though

Strider Hiryu
July 18th, 2005, 06:42 PM
Oh well lets see here it's Lancerow Dawell

aqu
July 18th, 2005, 06:49 PM
I dunno Strider, Lancelo Dawell is a pretty good Char clone.

Strider Hiryu
July 18th, 2005, 06:52 PM
I suppose. I just never likened him to Char when I watched it. Planned on rewatching Gundam X this weekend so I'll see if I notice any Char in him then I'll get back to you on it.

I'm pretty interested at it, because i never got to watch half of it... Because of school/schedules...

I gotta hand it to mr. Garrod. he is no "Perfect Soldier", no "Newtype", and certainly not an "Ultimate Coordinator", but he sure is good with his Gundam...

From what bigbroclow explained to me, it is a "what if" scenario of 0093...

Strider Hiryu
July 19th, 2005, 02:07 PM
I don't really think its a "what if" scenario of 0093. For one Gundam X deals more with the problems of newtypes and whatnot. 0093 never took that time, it was basically Char wanting to realize the dream of having the human race evolve into Newtypes which was why he was trying to send Axis into the Earth. It would have forced oldtypes into space where they would evolve.

Gundam X starts out with the Earth already in shambles form the war. The main concept towards then end is newtypes vs. oldtypes (Space is filled with Newtypes basically in this one).

As I said I don't really think it's a "what if". Char's Counterattack (which is UC 0093) doesn't play big on the newtypes role on things. It's just basically the realization of his father's and his dream.

Then again to each there own, people interpret things differently from each other.

I always thought of it as "What if Zeon didn't lose?

Strider Hiryu

Good way of thinking about it there aqu. I guess thats another thing I didn't think about while watching it.

So this is And After math of the UC war?

Strider Hiryu
July 19th, 2005, 07:43 PM
This is an AU series Kuwa, nothing to do with the UC timeline. Most people like to think of it as a "What if" Scenario had Zeon won the OYW and had things progressed down the years. Just what most people like the speculate.

In my opinion it isn't. I view it as a story upon itself and don't like to try and tie AU series into the whole UC series. Then again there is the whole Turn-A theory out there (thats for another topic).

Well after taking the time to watch the series again last night and most of this morning I've come to notice a few things.

Lacelow does emulate Char but I think Jamil is the Char persona in Gundam X. Why? Heh, I guess I see more of Char in Jamil then I did in Lancelow. Jamil fights for what he believes in even if it goes against what others think. Lancelow isn't shown much in the series (last like 9 eps) so I can't say much about him but he doesn't exactly emulate Char much in those eps. Guess its just me though but I see more of Char in Jamil then I did in Lancelow.

Also I guess this could be taken as a "What if" scenario. I can certainly see how things could have gone down this way had Zeon won the OYW. They were notorious for dropping colonies on the Earth, much like the Space Rebellion and they weren't easily swayed to see others opinons.

All in all I say it again this is a great series. To bad it was cut off short of what was planned for it, would of made a great 50 ep series. The ending is also by far the best one to come of any Gundam series (in my opinion, 8th MS Team ending is pretty close to taking it though (I mean the actual ending, not the one we got from CN).

Have not re-watched it since DLing Destiny... but i will buy VCD's of Gundam X soon after watching destiny. But I gotta say, Garrod is one of my Favorite pilots overall, besides Kira and Amuro....
