I loved this OVA. :3

I liked how it had a different perspective of the One Year War. Instead of from the Newtypes like Char or Amuro's, it was from a regular soldiers points of view. Has anyone seen this 12 episode OVA?

I never knew they showed it on CN in 2001. I still have yet to see Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team Miller's Report, sadly. Y_Y

Too bad they didn't put the RX-79[G] in G vs ZG. ¤_¤

Seen it and own it. I have Miller's Report also. You aren't missing much in Miller's Report. It is alot of new footage but basically its just the investigation into Shiro's actions with Aina and the destruction of the Aspalus (sp?).

CN only showed 11 eps and Miller's report, they left out the final ep (the bastards).

Anyways this is probably my second favorite Gundam series after Zeta.

I have a Question if this is during the One year War how come Amuro and them didnt know about the other Gundams?

This takes place in the jungles of Africa if I'm not mistaken whereas most of MSG took place in space and over Europe. There was no real way of White Base and it's crew knowing what suits were deployed and where.

Most of the stuff in 8th MS Team falls around Operation Odessa and the White Base was part of that operation (again, if I'm not mistaken. Been ages since I've seen MSG). This operation was in Europe so Amuro would have been busy fighting there while Shiro and his team were fighting Aina's brother and the troops stationed in that area. Not many Federation units had information on what the others were doing. Remember there were different campaigns/fronts in the OYW. White Base was mostly part of the Europe front (even if they were on the run most of the time).

Makes since but what was there point? Rx-78 was the Hero of the war so the others were like shadows right? So why make them?

They were created as a means to find a cost effective way to mass produce the Gundam and to help the Feds play catch up with Zeon. Only 42 units were created (of which twelve were stationed with Kojima's batallion) and since they were created using the left over parts from Project V it was unable to be repaired effectively.

All in all it was an experimental unit created to see if they could mass produce the Gundam using the same parts. Sadly the plan was scrapped in favor of the RGM-79[G] GM Ground-type since the RGM-79 was cheaper to produce and more powerful (or so says MAHQ and from what I understand from the show).

You gotta remember Kuwa, any suit the Federal Forces created was to advance their MS tech to catch up with Zeon and Gundams are, in essence, prototype units that are used for testing and then a cost effective way is created to mass produce the unit. The the Ground-type Gundams were actually worth being created.

I am talking about Gundam Alex......

Why would you bring the Alex up in a topic that doesn't revolve around Gundam 0080?

Anyways the Alex was made as suit to give Amuro something that could keep up with him and his developing Newtype powers. The old Gundam had a hard time doing this so the Alex was being developed to replace it. Sadly it never did get into Amuro's hands.

Why would Amuro know about secret mobile suit programs? He was just an ensign on a ship that was being used as a diversion for the EFSF

Back on the original topic, 8th MS Team was the Gundam show that really made me appreciate Gundam shows (and get past the random bullshit of Wing's super-duper indestructible Gundamium alloy shitcans). It's not really even a Gundam show. It's just a war drama with hella cool animation, spiffy characters, and some boobs (there were boobs right?).

White Base purpose in the One Year War was to be a distraction for Zeon. They were never meant to actually accomplish anything in battle besides diverting Zeon from the main front. White Base and its crew was expendable in the EFSF’s view. Would you tell someone who you were deliberately putting in as much danger as possible (and in situations where capture is likely) top military secrets?

Im am kinda an expert when it comes to the UC timeline, well to me 08 ms team kinda screw up the UC time line, when the ms team started, thats when white base killed Garma Zabi and made its way to Odessa,Ukraine which is south of asia, now the ms team have Gundams(why amuro did not get a g-Gundam)

As aqu put it the Ground-type Gundam isn't usable in space, which is where the original Gundam ended. Amuro had no use for Ground based unit when his Gundam was effective in both areas.
