Jakotsu is a resurrected dead human. a zombie empowered by a sacred jewel shard and one of the Schinintai. as for why jakotsu's voice sounds wrong:

he sounds like a woman. when he should sound like Jack from Will and Grace, but more flamboyant. Jakotsu: "Oh, InuYasha!"

Yeah, some of the voice acting is getting really shotty...

Gatenmaru (the repetitive moth demon in "InuYasha's Soul, Devoured") sounded quite fruity. Jakotsu, I don't even know what it is (woman? man?). It looks like a man, sounds like a manly woman. I try not to read spoiler tags...

I wonder if they're just trying to rush things.

Actually his voice reminds me of Nuriko's (from Fushigi Yugi) english voice actor. At any rate the voice reminds me of that person any way. Maybe I should go look that up... I can not fidn who does his voice in Inu Yasha. lol Guess I need to watch the end credits to see if it there.
