Sergeant Sousuke Sagara, a military fanatic and member of Mithril, has been ordered on a bodyguard mission to follow and protect high school student Kaname Chidori. This order is not a simple task for Sousuke, because he has to attend her school and keep a constant eye on her without looking suspicious or revealing to Kaname what his mission is. Even tough Sousuke is the right age for high school, he is a military buff and is always on edge which allows for some hilarious scenes to take place. The reason Kaname must be protected is because she is a suspected "whispered", a person with secret knowledge known as "black technology" hidden in her subconscious mind. Because of this, terrorists are after her to obtain that powerful information and its up to Sousuke to keep her safe.

Sousuke takes his orders from Mithril, a secret organization that works at maintaining world peace. Mithril is a large organization, but their primary task force is the Tuatha de Danaan (aka Toy Box), a $5 billion submarine with cloaking technology, launching deck and a large variety of weaponry and mobile forces. Their main weapons are their advanced Arm Slaves (mecha) known as M9s which are deployed on multiple missions throughout the series.

As the series progresses, the plot takes a more drastic turn as a man named Gauron is revealed as the main person responsible for Kaname's danger. Gauron, a man believed dead and killed by Sousuke himself, has appeared before them and pilots an incredibly powerful arm slave. With his abilities, cunning and connections, Gauron has the ability to achieve almost anything he sets out to do and proves to be an amazing enemy.

Full Metal Panic! is a great combination of action and humor. This anime has a great plot that expands as the series progresses revealing great character development and insights into the secret technologies hidden within the whispered. But its not all action and seriousness, the humor in this anime is hilarious and is a great way to show off the characters and just how out of place Sousuke is in society.

The animation quality is also where FMP really shines. The details, angles, perspectives and even 3D CG all work together perfectly.

With a solid plot and funny quirks balanced with intense action, Full Metal Panic is one of my favorite animes and I highly recommend it.
