Great, creepy J-Horror. I certainly hope this one doesn't get a crappy North American remake.

I picked this one up off the new release section in a Blockbuster. There were only two copies, and after watching it, I'm glad I did. The film focuses on a small group of doctors and nurses who are working the night shift in an severely understaffed and underfunded hospital. After accidentally killing a patient through a misdosage, a strange infection starts to spread through the hospital, causing people to go crazy temporarily, and then quickly disolve as their internal organs liquefy into green goo. But is the infection a real, horrifying disease? Is it supernatural? Or is it merely imagined?

Plot: 7/10
Gripping. I didn't turn away from the screen once. It becomes slightly confusing around the middle and toward the end, but I'm pretty sure thats the point. Its one of those movies where you're supposed to work out what happened on your own. Overall, though, I thought the script was quite well written and interesting.

Cinematography: 9/10
Excellent. Lots of creepy shots and angles, combined with dingy lighting all combine to create a foreboding atmosphere.

Effects: 9/10
Excellent again. The liquefying is genuinely disturbing, and it was, as is so with many japanese fils, done without the aid of computers. All the goo here is real.

Overall: 8.5/10
See this movie! If you're into Japanese films, or just horror films, its for you. I was glad to see this, as its a refreshing break from the formulaic slasher flicks we've been bombarded with recently.
