Stinkerbell July 24th, 2005, 05:45 AM Any NIN fans around?
I think Trent Reznor is doing great things for music, and I snagged tickets for the 9/23 show in Seattle, WA.
Any thoughts, comments, favorite songs??
Neo November 2nd, 2005, 09:20 AM right here! i love NIN, my gf got me thier new album and im getting it on christmas  cant wait...i hear the song "all the love in the world" and i really like it...of course i like thier older stuff too
Eli November 2nd, 2005, 09:59 AM I don't care for their newer stuff much, the new album was a let down after growing up with Pretty Hate Machine to The Fragile. All of which fucking rocked. But I've been listening to them forever. =)

yea growing up to the downward spiral myself, the newer stuff is a rather big change
Eli November 2nd, 2005, 07:39 PM Definitely. I was sorely disappointed, but I won't say it was a bad album, just not what I expected nor wanted.
Neo November 2nd, 2005, 07:49 PM eh well you have to learn to adapt to new things sometime or just move on
Toy Machine November 3rd, 2005, 02:02 AM I picked up 'Downward' at the start of summer. I though that "Closer" really seemed out of place though, but still a good album along with packaging.
Eli November 3rd, 2005, 08:03 PM Naw, I think it fits. =) That song has good memories...
Neo November 4th, 2005, 08:53 AM i really loved thier remake of jhonny cashes "hurt" great song
Eli November 4th, 2005, 10:50 AM ...That was NIN's song first. Cash remade it my friend.

hows that when jhonnys version came out first? O_O at least thats what i thought
Eli November 4th, 2005, 03:18 PM :wtf: No...Cash's came out less than a year before he died. NIN came out with that song on Downward Spiral in 1994.
Neo November 7th, 2005, 08:44 AM oh well... ok then lol
Eli November 7th, 2005, 09:52 AM =P Don't worry, I'm a walking encyclopedia of information. Heh.
Neo November 7th, 2005, 10:09 AM haha well if i ever need to know something i'll be sure to find you and ask
Toy Machine November 9th, 2005, 12:04 AM Going back to "Closer", it seems out of place given the dismal nature of the album and this song just breaks up the flow. I think part of it to is the song has become mythic.
I think the radio edit is better becasue its so much more of tease, a build up to hear the full chorus.
Eli November 9th, 2005, 10:00 AM Closer just throws the sexual tension into the album, and he drops you the rest of the way. Because most of the "downer" songs are after that. I think it fits. I think it's The Fragile where he really attacks you emotionally. He breaks you down in TDS and finishes it with TF.

i agree, big man with a gun or whatever the song was cmae close the end of the song, most of the sexual tension came at that point and continued a few times after
Eli November 10th, 2005, 06:13 PM Oh yeah. That song kicks ass too. And Reptile fits right in afterwards.
Neo November 13th, 2005, 09:57 AM reptile was a really good song
Eli November 13th, 2005, 10:38 PM *nods* Another of my favorites. I still think The Fragile is my favorite though... Somewhat Damaged, We're In This Together, Starfuckers Inc., Someplace Warm, oh man...*falls asleep to Trent*
Neo November 14th, 2005, 08:41 AM i really like the new song all the love in the world like i said ealier.. ^-^ i cant stop listening to it
