Sledge's right. Especially if it's not enforced internationally. It doesn't have a chance.

"However, under the proposed language, viewers would not be allowed to use software or devices to skip commericals or promotional announcements "that would otherwise be performed or displayed before, during or after the performance of the motion picture," like the previews on a DVD."
-WTH... like people watch them anyway if they don't want to... *bows down to to fast forward button*

some parts of it i can understand, but overall, it's way to far....i'm all for fair use....i mean, that's part of free speech in my opinion.....i can understand acting against pirated movies.....i personally don't download them because i want to see them in the theatre....that's part of the experience.....but i have a feeling that bill will also make it illeagle to copy your own stuff for backup purposes.....which, realisictly, i realize very few people copy stuff just to have a backup.......as for the RIAA, they're fighting a losing battle....i hardly think the singers are losing a great deal of money from free music online....the singers themselves make more money from tours than from record sales.....*shrugs*.....i also know a lot of people that download free music, but then go out and buy the CD because they liked the music so much....

i dunno....that's just my opinion....there's no way to completly stop free music online....and considering the movie industy is still making record-breaking box office weekends, i hardly think they have anything to worry about....

i wonder how this law would affect radio stations. i remember hearing a long time ago about a bill that would cost radio stations thousands of dollars because of copyright reform crap. -_-;

"that would otherwise be performed or displayed before, during or after the performance of the motion picture," like the previews on a DVD."i remember seeing a few dvds that literally forced you to watch the opening previews everytime you played the dvd. the fast forward, chapter skip, menu, etc. commands were all disabled. its the most annoying damn thing a company could do. i haven't seen on of those in years tho, so many ppl complaigned. heck, i always figured if i spent $20 for a movie, then i bought the movie, not the advertisements. :|

I dont see it passing the way it is, and if it does.. how the hell do they plan on enforcing it? check every computer and dvd/cd collection in the country? pffft
